Modern wedding garters come in a variety of designs, from average to plus-size garters, and are often matched to the bridesmaids dress colors. Often, the keepsake garter matches the bridal gown, while the tossing garter is coordinated with the colors of the bridesmaid dresses. Bridal garters can also correlate with the wedding theme, or can be a specific color for personal or sentimental reasons. Modern brides will also often use a blue garter as the tossing garter to fulfill the "something blue" part of the famous wedding rhyme.
