About This Maple Leaf Ornament
The process of plating each Maple Leaf Ornament in gold or silver is called electroform. This is a proprietary, labor-intensive process that takes several days. After the leaf is picked, it is coated in a solution that binds the leaf to a layer of copper. A layer of nickel and then finally gold, silver, or iridescent copper is applied to create the finished product.
